HOMESCHOOLERS INTRODUCTION TO CLAY HANDBUILDING

HOME SCHOOL HANDBUILDING WITH CLAY COURSE. 

SIX WEEK SERIES 1ST NOVEMBER THROUGH TO 6TH DECEMBER 2023

£150.00

Wednesdays at 1.45pm to 3pm 

Ages 8 and up. Limited to eight seats per six-week session (inc drink & biscuits) 

Week 1: Introduction to Clay: Learn How to Make a Pinch & Coil pot. 

Week 2: Making Tiles

Introduction of how to create tiles using clay.

Create two tiles, experimenting with different decorative methods.

Week 3 : Make a Vase

How to create a vase structure using the slab technique.

Create your own unique vase, with lots of creativity and experimentation.

Week 4: Make a Mug

Learn how to shape a mug, attach  the handle, and add decorative elements if desired.

Make your own personalised mug. 

Week 5: Finish Projects/Glazing Lesson

Review the projects created 

Demonstration of various glazing methods, such as dipping, brushing, or sponging.

Week 6: Final Glaze Day

Students will apply glaze to their finished pottery pieces.

Note:

Throughout the six-week series, we will explore handbuilding techniques, safety guidelines, and the importance of creativity and self-expression.

Students keep a sketchbook to document their ideas, progress, and reflections throughout the course.
